She completed her Bachelor of Science (Plant Biology) in 1999. She enjoyed a pre-doctoral fellowship from the Community of Madrid in the Department of Animal Production of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2006 she obtained the Doctorate with European mention and Prize Extraordinary in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Malaga. She has been a professor at the UMA since 2009. She stayed at the Dutch Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW) where she received a wide formation in cyanobacteria photobiology. Subsequently, it has developed work contracts related to Macroalgas taxonomy (University of Granada) and the spatial analysis of the terrestrial vegetation (private enterprise). She is principal investigator of several OTRI contracts, related to the above mentioned subjects. Her scientific work focuses on the study of photosynthetic characters of cyanobacteria and microalgae, both intra-specific and inter-specific. But it also performs eco-physiological work with aquatic macrophytes. All of them are published in journals registered in the JCR. Finally, she has provided publications from taxonomy to Acta Botanica Malacitana, a journal specialized in taxonomy, flora and vegetation, with anonymous peer review system. Since 2012 she has been a member of the Subcommittee on Academic Planning. Previously, she has developed teaching tasks in Secondary Education as a Bilingual teacher and teacher of support to students with hearing loss. She also carried out consultancy work environment in the private sector.
