Biography

Graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in 1963, he completed his Masters (1971) and PhD (1981) in Parasitology, Department of Parasitology, Biological Sciences Institute, Federal University of Minas Gerais. Full Professor in 1991, Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in 1999. Researcher 1A-CNPq from 1988 and received the title of Prof. Emeritus of UFMG in 2005, an institution that continues to carry out teaching and research activities with the Postgraduate Program in Parasitology. He has extensive experience in the area of ​​Parasitology, with emphasis on Protozoology, working mainly in the following subjects: Biology, biochemical and molecular characterization of Trypanosoma cruzi, parasitological diagnosis and experimental chemotherapy of Chagas' disease.
