Professor Eamonn Quigley is a clinical gastroenterologist with an extensive research background in gastrointestinal health, in areas such as IBS, gut transit, functional GI disorders, and the role of the microbiota and host-microbe interactions in common GI disorders. Eamonn graduated from UCC and trained in medicine and gastroenterology in Glasgow, the Mayo Clinic, and Manchester. After 12 years as gastroenterology faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, he returned to UCC in 1998 and served as Head of the Medical School and Professor of Medicine and Human Physiology from 2000 to 2013. He was previously President of the World Gastroenterology Organisation and the American College of Gastroenterology. He has recently moved to take up the position of Medical Director at the Lynda K. and David M. Underwood Center for Digestive Disorders at Houston Methodist Hospital, but continues to advise on study design for Atlantia projects in the area of digestive health.
