Steffen Basting is a Research Associate at the chair of Applied Mathematics and Numerics at TU Dortmund University. He has previously worked at Friedrich-Alexander University as a Research Assistant, and at University of Houston as a Research Scholar. His research interests are focused on the Finite Element Method applied to problems in fluid dynamics, particularly problems involving free- and moving boundaries. Applications range from fluid-/structure interaction problems such as the simulation of blood flow around heart valves to the simulation of propellants in rocket tanks.
