Biography

Dr. Wissam El Khoury during his years of study, he worked as a graduate assistant at LAU’s School of Business, assisting professors in different academic duties, mainly focused on research and study analysis. Topics were related - but not limited - to Economics and Finance. As a result, he was able to develop and sharpen his analytical skills. Afterwards, he moved to France for 5 years where he attended classes and seminars as part of ECRICOME’s Ph.D. program. Wissam gave many presentations and lectures to M.B.A. students, conducted a number of studies with Kedge Business School’s business partners (Société Générale, JP Morgan, BNP Paribas, Auchan, PWC, etc.), and participated in several conferences, notably in North America (e.g. Administrative Sciences Association of Canada) where he also served as a reviewer for the finance division. At the same time, he remained in contact with LAU, and collaborated with a professor at the School of Business to assist him in his consulting services for the Finance and Budget Committee of the Lebanese Parliament. Throughout these years, he has conducted several studies and written many academic articles; some of which were accepted for presentation and/or inclusion in conference proceedings, and others were sent for publication and are currently under review. In addition, he was acknowledged in several published articles for reviewing and conducting empirical analyses. Wissam’s research is mainly focused on finance, more particularly on mergers and acquisitions. For the past 5 years, he has been developing models to assess the effect of asymmetric information in M&A games. He aims to break this chain of papers that rely on risk measures instead of uncertainty. To serve this purpose, he recurs to several fields of study, such as Applied Mathematics, Game Theory, Strategic Management, Mechanics, Physics, and of course Finance (and Mathematical Finance). After years of research, he was able to develop several models and test them empirically. These models are now available for use on statistical and decision-making software. His research interests include Brownian Motion, Game Theory, Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Financial Economics, Macro Finance, Applied Mathematics, Strategic Finance, and Mathematical Finance. His research interests in Finance include Mergers and Acquisitions, Asymmetric Information, Risk, Uncertainty, Financial Markets, IPOs, Toeholds, and M&A Games. Wissam is currently a member of the LAMETA (Laboratoire Montpelliérain d’Économie Théorique et Appliquée) research center in France, and he recently applied for membership at the IMAA institute in Austria. Besides academia, Wissam is a music composer and producer; he has recorded many EDM songs in the United States with major recording studios. He also DJs and participate in music events around the world, for example in Ibiza (Spain) and Amsterdam (Netherlands). When it comes to sports, he is a soccer fan, and supports the Paris Saint Germain team.
