Dr. Shafi Mohammad Tareq completed B.Sc. (hons) and M.Sc. from Department of Chemistry, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. He obtained M.S. from Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Nagoya University and awarded D.Sc. from Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University, Japan. Dr. Tareq also completed Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) from the university of Nottingham and become a fellow of the higher education acdemy, UK. Dr. He is an Environmental Hydrobiogeochemist by training, and has been involved in multi-disciplinary research since 1995. In his early career, he worked as a JSPS postdoctral fellow at Nagoya University and the University of Shiga Prefecture. He also worked as a Chair, department of Environmental Sciences, Jahangirnagar University and adjuct faculty at the University of Shiga Prefecture, Japan and North South University, Bangladesh. He has collaborated several international projects between Bangladesh and Japan. He has been supervising a number of M.S., M.Phil. and Ph.D. students working on different environmental problems and published some significant papers on arsenic pollution in groundwater of Bangladesh and Nepal as well as paleovegetation and climate changes in tropical and sub-tropical areas. Dr. Tareq also worked as commonwealth academic fellow at the University of Birmingham, UK. He got very prestigiuos BAS-TWAS young scientist gold medal, 2013 from Bangladesh Academy of Science for his outstanding contribution to national science and technology. To date he has been published more than fifty papers in national/international journals with total citation of 725 and 12 h-index and contributed sevral chapters in books publihsed by international publisher, mostly Elsevier and Springer. He presented his research outcomes in many international conferences in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America.
