Dr. Scott V. Joy, M.D, C.D.E, F.A.C.P serves as the Chief of Clinical Services Division and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine of Internal Medicine of Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Joy's research interests include process improvement in diabetes management and education, evaluation of new drug therapies for diabetes, clinical evaluation of postprandial hyperglycemia and applications of technology into clinical practice. Dr. Joy serves as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of CeQur SA. Dr. Joy served as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of PhaseBio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He has published articles and abstracts in such publications as Diabetes, Journal of Clinical Outcomes Management, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Journal of General Internal Medicine, and MD News. He is a member of the Eastern North Carolina American Diabetes Association Leadership Council and is a current member of the state of North Carolina Diabetes Advisory Council. Dr. Joy received his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh. His postgraduate education included a residency in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He is board certified in internal medicine, is a certified diabetes educator, and a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
