Dr. Sang-Hyon OH is currently working at North Carolina A&T State University as an assistant professor. His major is statistical animal breeding. He estimated genetic parameters between carcass and reproductive traits of boar, and evaluated the use of covariance functions for the genetic evaluation of boar semen traits. The boar reproductive traits have traditionally been considered multiple traits, but in his work, models were developed to analyze them as longitudinal data such as growth models. He had worked with Smithfield Premium Genetics to develop procedures to edit and evaluate records collected from electronic feeding systems. He also developed genetic prediction models and estimated genetic parameters for weaning to estrus interval and litter birth weight that have subsequently been incorporated into the genetic evaluation system of the National Swine Registry. He has been working on outdoor swine production since 2006, and teaching classes that are swine production, animal breeding, and pork export market which is a part of Swine School On-Line program in U.S. Pork Center of Excellence.
