Biography

Dr. Sana Amir finished her B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in 2006 at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET Lahore), Pakistan with distinction (seven gold medals). Soon after graduation, she started working as a Lecturer in UET Lahore and taught a variety of subjects related to Structural Engineering. She completed her M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (structures) at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in 2008. In 2009, she joined the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, to conduct her Ph.D. on Compressive Membrane Action in Prestressed Concrete Deck Slabs. She has presented her work in many conferences around the world including Scotland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, India, Netherlands, and Pakistan. After completing her doctorate, she returned to Pakistan and worked as an Assistant Professor in UET Lahore before joining the American University in Dubai as Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering in Fall 2015. Her research interests include compressive membrane action, prestressed concrete, punching shear in concrete slabs and deck slabs, seismic design of structures, durability of concrete etc.
