Biography

Dr. Rezaul Karim is an Assistant Professor of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (BGE) department of Jahangirnagar University. He joined at BGE department as an Assistant Professor from August 2014. His research interests include cancer epidemiology. Dr. Reza completed his undergraduate from University of Chittagong in 2003. He then went for Masters with thesis group in the same University. Dr. Reza conducted his Masters thesis work in Dhaka BIRDEM under the supervision of Prof. Liakot Ali. Immediately after completing his Masters, he went to RIKEN Brain Science Institute, Japan, for his graduation study. During his PhD, he worked on the genetic networks that organize the class-specific sensory neuron development in Drosophila Peripheral Nervous System (published in Journal of Neuroscience). He also worked on the role of Notch signaling pathway in determining the Olfactory Receptor Neuron (ORN) identity in Drosophila and the results published in “Nature Neuroscience”. He was born on 1979 in Comilla, and grew up in a port city Chittagong, Bangladesh.
