Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Department of Mechanical Engineering
American University in Dubai
United Arab Emirates
Dr. Masoudi joined AUD in September 2015. He is the recipient of a PhD in Systems Design Engineering in 2012 from the University of Waterloo in Canada. His thesis was on “Micromechanics of Fiber Networks Including Nonlinear Hysteresis and its Application to Multibody Dynamic Modeling of Piano Mechanisms”. He was a postdoctoral fellow and sessional lecturer in the same department at the University of Waterloo for more than three years. During that time, he conducted several projects in collaboration with Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA and Maplesoft Inc. in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. His areas of expertise include Mathematical Modeling of Dynamical Systems, focused on Space Robotics, Multibody Dynamics, Contact Dynamics, and Micromechanics of Random Networks, along with Model Treatment for Practical Applications focusing on Model Order Reduction, Parameter Identification, and Sensitivity Analysis with application to automotive systems. Dr. Masoudi was a teaching assistant for several courses at the University of Waterloo and a full-time lecturer for three years in the department of mechanical and chemical engineering at Azad University in Iran. He is also one of the key contributors in launching a web-based multibody benchmark library, in collaboration with Stanford University and Laboratorio de Ingeniería Mecánica at the University of La Coruña in Spain, for the members of multibody community worldwide. He has been a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) since 2009.
