Biography

Dr. Muti-ur-Rehman Khan Niazi is currently an Assistant Professor (TTS) in the Department of Pathology, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore. He is Doctor of Philosophy in Hematology (Hematopoietic Stem cells) from Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China (2009). He earned his PhD, at the age of 35, on his PhD thesis titled, “Studies on the Effect of hKirre (Kiaa 1867) and Condition Medium (CM) on the hematopoietic progenitor cells ex-vivo expansion and mechanism of self renewal”. Dr. Niazi was awarded Overseas PhD Scholarship for higher studies by HEC (2005). Earlier, he qualified his M.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Pathology from College of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore. He got first posting in College of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore where he started his career as Veterinary Officer and later transferred to Pathology Department where selected as a lecturer. An avowed researcher, Dr. Niazi has published 38 international publications and 11 national publications.

Investigations on emerging infections and diseases Ex Vivo expansion of hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells Use of adult stem cells for degenerative disorders of animals Studies on pathological effects of indigenous plant poisons in animal. Development of Molecular diagnostic techniques of various infectious diseases of livestock and poultry. Pathological studies of diseases animals.
