Dr. Marla Hall earned an MA and BS in Health Education from East Carolina University and a PhD in the same discipline from Texas A&M University. Her dissertation research identified cultural competence knowledge and programmatic skill sets of individuals employed within public health departments. Following the completion of her PhD, she acted as a joint-appointed Postdoctoral Research Scientist within the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and North Carolina Central University’s Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute. Beyond academia, as a North Carolina native, she served in various capacities as a Public Health Educator in rural health organizations. Her current work is focused on chronic disease prevention program planning, with emphasis placed on underrepresented and at-risk population engagement.
