Biography

Manuel de Castro, is Professor of Physics of the Earth in the Faculty of Sciences And Biochemistry of the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Toledo (Spain) since 2001. He currently directs the Institute of Sciences Environment of Castilla-La Mancha (ICAM), the Regional Meteorological Institute (IMetCaM) and coordinates the research group MOMAC (Numerical Modeling for Environment and Climate). Its main line of research is the development and Application of mathematical models for meteorological prediction and simulation Of regional climate. He is co-author of the numerical model PROMES that is being Applying for daily operational weather forecasts in the Iberian Peninsula and also to obtain scenarios of climate change in Europe-Mediterranean, Africa and South America, collaborating with various centers and Institutes of research of the climate of Europe and America. The coordinating group was Responsible for developing the regionalized scenarios of climate change in Spain that officially distributes the Ministry of Environment. Has been Responsible for six research projects funded by the Commission European Union, all related to climate modeling, as well as various National projects and contracts with companies. He has published several dozen Scientific articles in international journals and some chapters of books. It was Scientific representative of Spain at the WCRP (World Research Program On Climate) between 1999 and 2004, contributing author in the Third Report of the International Panel of Experts on Climate Change of the United Nations (IPCC)
