She is a professor at the Poznań University of Life Sciences. Małgorzata Szumacher-Strabel graduated from I Secondary High School in Warsaw. Karol Marcinkowski. Then she studied Zootechnics at the Zootechnical Department of the then Agricultural University of Warsaw. August Cieszkowski. After completing his studies, in 1992, through a contest, she received a doctoral fellowship from the Scholarship Fund of the University, and in 1994, after reactivating the Interdepartmental Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Agriculture, she continued her doctoral studies in the Department of Animal Nutrition and Fodder Management. In 1992, she held a Tempus internship in Scotland and Ireland, and in 1994 she received a French Government scholarship and took an internship at the INRA Rennes Young Ruminant Laboratory, led by Dr. JF. In 1995, Małgorzata Szumacher-Strabel took up another internship at the Institute of Animal Physiology and Nutrition of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Jabłonna, and in 1998 he presented his dissertation on "The Effect of Fat Additives on Microbial Protein Synthesis, Cellulolytic Activity and Other indicators of ruminal transformation ". The degree of doctor of habilitated agricultural sciences was given to Małgorzata Szumacher-Strabel in 2006 by the Council of the Faculty of Animal Breeding and Biology of the University of Agriculture in Poznan. Title of the thesis: "Effect of addition of fats to sheep and goat doses on unsaturated fatty acids in rumen fluid and milk, with particular emphasis on conjugated linoleic acid isomers." The work was awarded by the Rector of the University of Agriculture in Poznan. Małgorzata Szumacher-Strabel from 1998 to 2008 held many short-term internships in the United States (University of Georgia, Athens) and in Slovakia (Slovak Academy of Sciences, Institute of Animal Physiology). The cooperation established during the stay has resulted in many publications and continues today.
Research interests dr hab. Małgorzata Szumacher-Strabel covers issues related to the feeding of ruminants, especially modulation of fermentation processes occurring in the rumen, with participation of microflora. Modulation of the composition of rumen micro-organisms allows, among other things, the reduction of production and emission of greenhouse gases (primarily methane and ammonia) into the environment, and allows rational use of the nutrients contained in the dose. Animal nutrition is an interdisciplinary field that includes, inter alia, elements of microbiology and animal physiology. Dr hab. Małgorzata Szumacher-Strabel is a member of the Polish Zootechnical Society, the Polish Society of Nutrition Science, and in 2011 was admitted to the German Society for Animal Nutrition and Animal Physiology.
