Biography

Dr. Lachhman Das Singla is a Professor at Department of Veterinary Parasitology, College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, India.

Research Intrest

Conducted, guided and supervised applied and strategic research in priority areas of parasitology for diagnosis and control of economically important parasitic diseases of large animals, poultry, dogs and wild animals having direct impact on livestock production and health. Extensively studied parasitic diseases include trypanosomosis and other haematozoa, toxoplasmosis, poultry coccidiosis, tick-borne infections, paramphistomosis and wild life parasitic infections. Generated epidemiological database and created maps of economically important haemoprotozoan diseases in relation to different agro-climatic zones of Punjab state. Evaluated conventional, immunological and molecular diagnostic approaches to identify the parasitic diseases at an early stage. Applied molecular diagnostic techniques for accurate diagnosis of haemoprotozoan infections as a sensitive and specific tool in latent infections. Created new research facility and protocols. Prepared a complete programme on ‘Judicious use of anthelmintics and an integrated parasitic control programme in respect of Punjab for implementation for welfare of animals and their owners.
