Biography

Krasimir Dimitrov Ivanov was born on March 10, 1960 in Varna, Bulgaria. He graduated from the Higher Medical Institute in Varna in 1986. From 1987 to 1990 he worked as a general practitioner in Devnya. In 1990 he was elected assistant professor at the Department of General and Operative Surgery of the Higher Medical Institute in Varna. She specializes in Surgery (1990-1993), Oncology (2002-2005) and Healthcare Management (2003-2005). He has undergraduate post-graduate training for a Master's degree in Business Administration (2003-2005). In 1996 she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled " Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment of Rectal Carcinoma". In 2001 she was elected as an associate professor of surgery. From 2004 to 2012 he is Head of the Department of General and Operative Surgery at the Medical University - Varna. Between 2001 and 2010 he was the Executive Director of the University Hospital "St. Marina "-Varna. In 2008, she successfully defended a Ph.D. thesis on PhD in Medical Sciences entitled " New Guidelines for Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment of Colorectal Carcinoma ". In 2009 he was elected Professor of Surgery. In 2012 he was elected Rector of the Medical University of Varna and in 2016 he was re-elected to this position. He is a national consultant in surgery in Bulgaria. His research activities cover a variety of topical topics in the field of surgical oncology, in particular coloproctology, gastroenterology and hepatology; new diagnostic methods including tumor markers, endothelial echography, endoscopy, contemporary imaging diagnostics, endothelial lymph nodes, laparoscopic colorectal carcinoma surgery and colorectal liver metastasis and others.
