Dr. Krolak earned his doctorate at Oklahoma State University in Insect Biochemistry where he conducted research to better understand the morphology and function of the tick salivary glands. Subsequently, he spent 4 years conducting biomedical research as a National Institute of Health (NIH) Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas in the areas of biochemistry and cell biology. Research was conducted in cyclic nucleotide, second messenger systems and muscular dystrophy. Following his NIH Fellowship, he was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force and was assigned as a biochemist, working on the effects of ionizing radiation on animal immune systems at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, MD. He was then assigned for a year at the USAF School of Medical Technology, Andrews AFB, MD. He was subsequently transferred to the Epidemiological Research Laboratory, Brooks AFB, San Antonio, TX where he concurrently served as the Chief for the Clinical Chemistry and Forensic Toxicology laboratories. Upon resigning his Air Force commission, Dr. Krolak assumed the role of a Senior Health Scientist with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, CDC and Prevention, Atlanta, GA. He later became and currently holds the position of a Supervisory Health Scientist with the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services, CDC and Prevention, Atlanta, GA where he works on a variety of clinical laboratory and Public Health issues. Dr. Krolak has served as an adjunct Assistant Professor at a number of universities in the Atlanta area since 2004. While adjunct faculty at Georgia Perimeter College, he lectured and taught labs in; Principles of Biology, General Biology, Environmental Science and Cell Biology and Genetic. He taught Environmental Science at Kennesaw State University, Oglethorpe University and Piedmont College. He also taught Human Physiology and Bioterrorism (Medical and Public Health Issues while at Oglethorpe University. Most recently he is teaching the lecture and lab for a section of Human Anatomy and Physiology at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, GA.
