Biography

Dr. Carter-McCummings holds a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health from North Carolina A & T State University; a Master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; and a Doctorate in Health Science from Nova Southeastern University. Currently, Dr. Carter-McCummings is also on faculty at Benedictine University, Essex County College, and Montclair State University. She has served as a Program Manager of Operational Services, Health Education Supervisor, and a Public Health Program Consultant for state and municipal level health agencies. During her tenure with these agencies, Dr. Carter-McCummings has managed multi-million dollar grants, conducted community mapping, developed partnerships with other public health organizations, and assisted in the development of community health improvement plans. She has always devoted her efforts toward educating disadvantaged communities, with hopes of empowering citizens to work towards effective social change. Thus, Dr. Carter-McCummings is a true pillar in the community. She has published her teaching endeavors and research findings within various newsletters and The Reporter.
