Biography

Dr. Burcu Kapar joined the American University in Dubai in Fall 2015 as an Assistant Professor of Economics in the School of Business Administration. Prior to joining AUD, she taught at the City University London various courses including Introduction to Financial Derivatives, Introduction to Microeconomics, Applied Microeconomics, Quantitative Methods and Data Analysis as an Adjunct Professor and Teaching Assistant. In 2014 and 2015, she talked in Cass Business School Dubai Center as a guest speaker about “Overview Economy in GCC and UAE” for MBA students and executives. She worked on a European based project call “Forecasting Crisis (FOC)” from 2011 to 2013 as a Research Assistant and in 2014 as a Postgraduate Research Assistant. She also worked in the banking industry as a Corporate Banking Specialist for four years in Turkey. Her main research interests are Financial Economics, Financial Econometrics, Empirical Finance, Risk Management, Credit Risk and Interbank Market. She has published in journals of international prestige, such as Journal of Fixed Income and Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics. She has presented her work in international conferences such as The Econometric Society Asian Meeting (2011), Society for Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics Symposium (2012), Bachelier Finance Society World Congress (2012), International Conference Computing in Economics and Finance (2012).
