Dr. Afzal Ali, is Assistant Professor (Animal Breeding and Genetics), Department of Livestock Production, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan and holds B.Sc. (Hons) Animal Husbandry, M.Sc. (Hons) Animal Breeding and Genetics & Ph.D. Animal Breeding and Genetics degrees. He has also served Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Punjab at various positions. He possessed about 25 years research and teaching experience. He is also a member of 6 Scientific Societies / Associations. He is also working as Focal Person of Quality Enhancement Cell, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore to improve the quality standards in higher education. Dr. Afzal Ali has more than 15 research publications in national and international journals. Eight students earned their M Phil degree under his supervision.
Animal Production especially in the area of Animal Breeding & Genetics with particular reference to quantitative Genetics / Population Genetics for genetic improvement of livestock. Estimation of genetic and environmental parameters affecting productive and reproductive traits in farm animals. Development of genetically resistant breeds of livestock. Development of highly prolific breeds of sheep and goat for increased mutton production. Development of a synthetic breed of goat for more mutton production. Improvement and utilization of existing genetic resources in Pakistan.
