Biography

Dorothy Alston Calley serves at Biola as an assistant professor of communication studies. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, has a masters degree in social justice in intercultural relations from the School for International Training and a B.A. in communication studies from Biola University. Professor Calley has served as an AmeriCorps member in Vermont and worked for many years with non-profits focusing on affordable housing, at-risk youth, and workforce development. She first learned about Biola when she was living in the Philippines as a missionary kid. As a Third Culture Kid, she is passionate about teaching communication skills that foster cross-cultural understanding and deepen interpersonal relationships.
