He deals mainly with the literature of the first Otto and of the early twentieth century, often confronted by a stylistic and intertextual point of view. He studies dedicated to translators and poets of works like "proto" (in particular Idylls of Gessner and of Ossian songs ), but also of classic works ( The Aeneid , The Iliad translated after Monti), as well as translators-linguists (Rigutini translator of Ruffini). The influence of Vincenzo Monti on Leopardi's work is at the center of a set of studies he published between 2000 and 2005. On the turn of the twentieth century, his interests turned to Florentine culture before the Great War, literary production by Ardengo Soffici, to whom he has dedicated a monograph ( Ardengo Soffici from Roman to "pure lyricism", 2 vol., Florence, Leo S. Olschki, 1997) and numerous essays.
