Nadim Diab is an assistant professor in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department. He received BE (2003), ME (2005), and PhD (2013) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut. Dr. Diab has worked for a few years on modeling rarefied gas dynamics using the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. His work in this field focused on understanding the gas dynamics around a micro RF switch oscillating at very high frequencies (GHz).
His recent research interests are focused on mechanisms design, optimization techniques, and numerical methods. Dr. Diab implemented several optimization techniques (Tabu, Genetic, Ant) in the design of rigid body mechanisms. His current research work is concentrated on the design of compliant mechanisms (size, shape, and topology optimization) that has wide applications in the industry at both macro and micro levels (MEMS).
