Biography Professor Yan Deyue was born in Yongkang County, Zhejiang Province in 1937. He got his Bachelor’s Degree from Department of Chemistry, Nankai University in 1961 and four years later he got the Master’s Degree from Department of Chemistry, Jilin University. In 2002, he was awarded Doctor’s Degree of Naturwissenschaften by Leuven Catholic University in Belgium. He was elected as member of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. Professor Yan has made outstanding contribution to the development of Polymeric Chemistry and Physics in China, especially in the research area of hyperbranched polymer. According to incompletely statistics, he has published over 300 papers in Science, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., Small, Macromolecules, Polymer and some other journals. These published papers have been cited for more than 1000 times. He has participated in writing dictionary and monograph for a total of seven chapters. Besides, the doctoral dissertations of his three doctors were voted as three of National 100 excellent doctoral thesis. 1998, First Prize of Shanghai Scientific and Technological Process (Basic research); He has ever won the Fourth Prize of National Natural Science, Excellent Worker of Shanghai, Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement, First Prize of Shanghai Scientific and Technological Process, the Second Prize of National Natural Science and the Shanghai labor model. He is a chemist recognized for macromolecule research and professor at SJTU, and his main research interest concerns the polymerization kinetics theory, the synthesis and application of hyperbranched polymers, the modification of carbon nanotubes, and supramolecular self-assembly, etc.
