Derick Booyens [BSc Construction Management, MSc Project Management (UP)] was appointed as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Construction Economics in 2009. From 2000 to 2003, he gained experience in the construction industry working at a medium-sized firm in Pretoria, dealing with civil works and commercial projects and gaining exposure in all the relevant fields. He is the sole owner of a small project management consulting firm in Pretoria that handles anything from upmarket dwellings to small industrial-type contracts.Â
Research focus areas are Building Information Modelling and Construction Project Management.
