In 2014 Dawn was awarded the LH Martin Award for Excellence in Higher Education Leadership. This followed the Curtin University Vice Chancellor’s Award for Inspirational Leadership in 2013. She is also the recipient of two Teaching and Learning awards (2003) and a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for community service (2000). Dawn has authored over 120 publications including ten monographs and edited collections. She serves on several national and international editorial boards and she reviews for journals in arts education, cultural policy, higher education and human geography She also assesses grant applications for the Australian Research Council and the Office for Learning and Teaching. Dawn is on the board of directors for Music Australia and the International Society for Music Education, and she is a Commissioner with the Society’s Commission on the Education of the Professional Musician. She is inaugural Chair of Music Australia’s Industry and Careers national advisory board and chair of the Curtin Academy. Dawn is regularly invited to present at conferences, to give seminars and lectures, and to sit on assessment panels in Australia and overseas.
