Biography

Davy Paindaveine is full professor of Statistics at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, ULB. Since 2005, he is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and is a visiting professor at Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (Paris 6). In 2007, the American Statistical Association gave him the Gottfried E. Noether Young Scholar Award, for contributions to nonparametric statistics. The same year, he was bestowed the Adolphe Wetrems Prize by the Classe des Sciences of the Belgian Royal Academy. This price, created in 1926, is granted every year to a Belgian scientist rewarding "the most useful discovery or invention in physics, mathematics or the natural sciences," made during the previous year. He has been co-director of ECARES since 2006. He sits in the editorial board of several international journals, among which the Annals of Statistics.
