Dr. Dan Boyer is a native of Iowa City, IA. He completed Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts (Biology) degrees at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He subsequently entered the Medical Scientist Training Program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. While working towards his MD degree, Dr. Boyer also completed PhD studies in the laboratory of Dr. Christopher V.E. Wright, where he studied the cell and developmental biology of the pancreas. Dr. Boyer completed anatomic pathology residence and hematopathology fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Boyer joined the faculty of the University of Michigan Department of Pathology in October 2013. He specializes in hematopathology and serves as the medical director for the clinical flow cytometry laboratory. Dr. Boyer also serves as co-director for the Department of Pathology Safety Committee.
