Halil CoÅŸkun was born in Samsun in 1970. He went to the Medicine School at Ankara University during 1987-2004. He became specialist in General Surgery after majoring in General Surgery from 1995 to 2000 at Istanbul Medicine School. He conducted some works such as in Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, and endoscopic assessment after surgery with Prof Philip Schauer, the Head of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Department at Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He worked as a fellow under the supervision of Prof Dr Francesco Rubino in Diabetes Surgery in New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Collage. In 2014, he completed Robotic Bariatric Surgery Certificate programme together with Prof Tomasz Rogula at Cleveland Clinic Bariatric Surgery, Metabolic Enstitute. Dr CoÅŸkun became Associate Professor after passing General Surgery test of Inter-University Board Exam in 2009. He worked as a Founding Faculty Member in General Surgery Department of Medical School at Ä°stanbul Bezmialem Private University between 2010 and 2015. Dr CoÅŸkun is an active member of International Federation for the Surgical Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Society (BMCD).
