Dr. Delaney is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist specializing in stem cell transplantation, with particular expertise in umbilical cord blood transplantation. Dr. Delaney is an associate member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) Clinical Research Division and an associate professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. She is an attending physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), and she established and is the director of the Cord Blood Transplant Program at the FHCRC/SCCA. She earned her bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University in 1989, master's degree from Oxford University in 1991, and M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1996. She completed her residency in general pediatrics at University of California, San Francisco in 1999 and fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at FHCRC/SCH in 2002. Dr. Delaney is certified by the American Association of Pediatrics in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology (certified 2004, recertified 2014). Dr. Delaney has been honored with many awards, including “Seattle Top Doctors” (Seattle Magazine 2011, Seattle Met Magazine 2012) and the Dr. Ali Al-Johani Award in recognition of exemplary clinical medical care and compassion to patients and families.
Expansion (growth in the lab) of cord blood stem cells to increase the number of cells available for transplant; immune reconstitution in transplant recipients; immune interaction of cord blood donors and recipients post-transplant.
