He holds a Masters and PhD in Ecology, Conservation and Wildlife Management by the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has experience in the field of Ecology, with emphasis in Ecology of Ecosystems, acting mainly in the following subjects: phytoplankton, limnology, aquaculture, pisciculture and cyanobacteria. He currently teaches the subjects of 1-Botany Applied to Pharmacy, 2 - Taxonomy of Cryptogams, 3 - Allelopathic Relations in Vegetables, 4 - Taxonomy of Microscopic Algae and Cyanobacteria, 5 - Field Methodology, 6 - Algae Cultivation and Its Applications . In 2009 and 2010, his article "Phytoplankton community in the tropical lake of Lagoa Santa (Brazil): Conditions favoring a persistent bloom of Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii.", Co-authored with Giani, A., published in the journal Limnologica 39: 264- 272.
