Dr Chrystalla Demetriades has graduated from the Mathematics Department of the University of Ioannina, Greece, holding a scholarship of IKY. Each year of her studies she was awarded with the prize to the student with the best overall performance. She has received her PhD from the same University, on the study of the pedal hypersurfaces (Differential Geometry). During her graduate studies she attended courses and seminars as a visiting student at Stanford University, Ca, USA and she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Warwick, UK. She was a teaching assistant and later a lecturer in the Geometry Seminar of the University of Ioannina. She worked for several years as a lecturer of Mathematics at the Higher Technical Institute of Nicosia and now she is an Assistant Professor at the Technical University of Cyprus.
Her research interests include the Classical Differential Geometry and its applications, Geometrical Optics, Teaching methodology of mathematics emphasizing in the involvement of students in project work.
