Professor Cem Behar received his B.A., M.A. and Ph. D. degrees in Economics and Demography for the University of Paris (Panthéon-Sorbonne). He has taught in the University of Paris, at BoÄŸaziçi University (Istanbul) the University of Washington (Seattle) and Northwestern University. He has served as Head of the Economics Dept. for long years and also as Vice-Rector (Provost) at BoÄŸaziçi University. His areas of specialization are the Economics of Population and Historical Demography. His secondary interest area is Ottoman/Turkish Classical music, also an area in which he has very widely published.
