Biography

I joined Northumbria University in 2010 and I am now working as a Senior Research Fellow in international ageing. I have a clinical background in nursing with specialism in medical and community palliative care and academic interest in social geography and public health. I use participatory and qualitative approaches to work with older people, to develop preventative, enabling and cost effective, services and supports to promote a good quality of later life. I manage and support international and national research projects with a focus on health and well being in later life. These have included: health technologies and older adults; social aspects of falls and older adults; visual impairment and falls; Integrating housing and health services development; fuel poverty and money management; creating dementia friendly communities and intergenerational understanding of health and well being.
