Dr. Melhem-Moufarrej has taught at the American University in Dubai, Introduction to Mass Communication and Media Literacy and is currently teaching Media Research. She has also taught at the University of Massachusetts, several courses revolving around Public Health and Communication. Her research experience and interests converge around health communication. She has written several conference papers that were presented at the International Communication Association (ICA) and Eastern Communication Association (ECA). As part of a post-doctoral position at the Department of Behavioral Science, the University of Texas, Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Melhem-Moufarrej wrote a proposal in 2006 with highly favorable reviews. The proposal was a qualitative study in smoking behavior of adolescents in the 10th grade and was evaluated by the National Institute of Health. Dr. Melhem-Moufarrej was the project coordinator at the American University of Beirut (AUB) for an outreach program in conjunction with the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC). She has trained on behalf of AUB, health workers for the LRC health center located in the Southern Suburbs of Beirut. With the backing of UNICEF, she has also organized, designed, and implemented a health belief survey covering a random sample of all areas in north Lebanon. Carol relocated to 7 different cities due to the nature of her husband’s career. Marwan and Carol have Mira and Souheil who, following on McLuhan’s use of the terms, have filled their lives with much cherished “coolness” and “hotness”.
