Carmen Lucia Antão Paiva holds Bachelor of Biology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1972), Bachelor of Biology from UFRJ (1972), Master of Biochemistry from UFRJ (1977), Ph.D. in Genetics, Faculty of Science, University of Liverpool (1986) and postdoctoral fellow by the Department of Biochemistry of the Chemistry Institute of UFRJ. She is a Full Professor of Genetics and Molecular Biology at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). She has experience in administration and management of postgraduate and research: she was Pro-Rector of Post-Graduation and Research at UNIRIO, by the implantation of said pro-rectory in 1992, as well as of the Institutional Program of Scientific Initiation of CNPq (PIBIC); was Director of Postgraduate and Research, then Pro-Rector's Office, and Post-Graduation Director of the Postgraduate Pro-Rectory, Research and Extension.She was also responsible for drafting the UNIRIO Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology, approved by CAPES. Has experience in the areas of Genetics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, working in enzymology, human genetic diseases and education in Genetics and Molecular Biology.
