Biography

Carika Fritz is a senior lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law. She holds the degrees LLB (Pret) and LLM (Pret) and is currently registered for the LLD degree entitled “An appraisal of selected tax enforcement powers of the South African Revenue Service within the South African constitutional context. She was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2010 and as a notary public in 2013. Mrs Fritz is a member of the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT). Mrs Fritz joined the University of Pretoria Law Clinic in 2009 where she provided legal services to the indigent community. In 2012 she joined the Department of Mercantile Law as a temporary lecturer and in 2014 she was appointed as a permanent lecturer.  She was promoted to senior lecturer with effect 1 January 2017. She teaches Tax Law (BLR 310) and Tax Practice (BLP 420) as well as Business Law (BER 210/220) for non-law students. She also teaches Advanced Income Tax on Master’s level. She also acts as supervisor for LLB and LLM dissertations. Before her appointment in the Department of Mercantile Law she taught Practical Law (PRR 410/420) in the Department of Procedural Law.

Research Intrest

Her main field of interest is Tax Law, Tax Administration, Taxpayer’s rights.
