Biography

He joined the Department of Humanities and Literature in 2014. He focuses his research and teaching on the study of Latin American and North American literature and visual culture since the beginning of the 20th century. In particular, he is interested in modern and contemporary criminal fictions; in the criticism and history of the film medium (photography and cinema) and its relation to narrative practices; in the philosophical and comparative approaches to the study of the novel, and in the analysis of the various symbolic articulations of the corpse and death in the 20th century. He has published articles and book chapters in Latin America, the United States and Europe, has served as an academic pair in North American university publishers, and has been invited as a lecturer to various universities in the United States, Canada and Latin America Before joining Universidad de los Andes, he taught at the Spanish and Portuguese department of Northwestern University in Chicago.
