Dr. Brian R MacKenzie, professor. Main research interests are dynamics of marine populations, biodiversity and ecosystems, particularly in response to climate variability and change, fishing and eutrophication. He is actively involved in developing ecosystem-based approaches to fisheries management, including the transfer and incorporation of ecological knowledge into fisheries assessment, forecasting and management. He has 15 years experience working in ICES stock assessment and other ICES expert working groups on climate impacts on dynamics of populations and ecosystems. He has been work package leader, PI or coordinator in numerous EU and national projects (UNCOVER, RECLAIM, CONWOY, Euro-Basin, ECO-SUPPORT, BIO-C3) and EU Networks of Excellence (Eur-Ocean and MARBef) on dynamics of fish populations and ecosystems. He has supervised/co-supervised 6 Ph.D. students and 6 postdoctoral scientists. He is presently the Danish representative to the principal scientific body of ICES (Science Committee). He has published >58 publications in internationally-refereed journals has a h-index of 31/23 and 3446/1832 citations (Google Scholar/ISI). He is Academic Editor for PLoS One, editorial board member of Fisheries Oceanography and Review Editor for Frontiers in Marine Ecosystem Ecology.
