Research Intrest

Theoretical and experimental investigations of molecular dynamics manifested in NMR line shapes and nuclear spin relaxation behaviour are pursued. Quantum effects in condensed-phase molecular dynamics are sought, with the focus on the damped quantum rotation - a phenomenon once predicted by us theoretically and then observed in NMR spectra of hindered methyl groups in molecular crystals and solutions. Design, synthesis, and structural studies of azamacrocyclic compounds are carried on. Particular attention is drawn to the derivatives which can act as simultaneous receptors of transition metal ions and organic molecules. Redox-active molecular devices are constructed. Perspectives of the use of cyclidene complexes in the DNA research field are evaluated. Synthesis and studies of physico-chemical properties of the transition metal complexes with the potential to act as novel DNA sensors are carried on. Methods of preparation of advanced DNA models with build-in macrocyclic complexes showing mutual π-π interactions are developed.
