Born in 1968 in Gaziantep, Prof. Besnili completed his schooling at Gaziantep Dayı Ahmet Ağa Primary School and Gaziantep Anatolian High School. After graduating from Cumhuriyet University Medical School he completed his compulsory service in Gaziantep before travelling to the Moscow Cardiology Research Center to do his specialty training in cardiology. He finally qualified as a cardiologist at Mersin University Medical School. He then studied heart failure at Pittsburgh University, USA. Prof. Besnili has published many papers in national and international journals and is a member of the Turkish Society of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He has a good command of both English and Russian.
