Biography

Barbara Paulina Jekot joined the Department of Architecture at the University of Pretoria in 2005, after contributing to architectural programmes at the University of Natal in Durban for 13 years and at the University of Silesia for 6 years. She currently co-ordinates and lectures in the Professional Master's in Interior Architecture and Honours program in Interior Architecture. She teaches Material Studies in the undergraduate program. She has been an external examiner at the Universities of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Cape Peninsula as well as the Greenside Design Centre/College & School of Design and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA. She was a guest professor of the Mundus Urbano Program at the universities of Darmstadt, Germany and Pierre Mendes (UPMF), Grenoble, France.

Research Intrest

 Her research interest is in Environment Potential as well as Heritage and Cultural Landscapes. Her specific concerns are relations between technology and other elements of culture, investigations into nature-inspired innovations, prototyping, and ceramics.
