Born in Nizip in 1959, Prof. Bakır finished his schooling at Konya Anatolian High School before graduating from Hacettepe University Medical School in 1984. He completed his compulsory service in KırÅŸehir and then started his specialty training in general surgery at Dokuz Eylül University Medical School, finally qualifying in 1993. He also worked for two years as a lecturer in this department. Prof. Bakır has lived in Gaziantep since 1996 and has been working at the private Sani KonukoÄŸlu Hospital as a general surgeon since 2005. He is married, with one child, and can speak English. In 2014 Prof. Bakır started working in the department of general surgery as assistant professor at SANKO University.
