Biography

Ary Teixeira de Oliveira Filho, Forestry Engineer at UFV, holds a PhD in Ecology from UNICAMP and has held post-doctoral training at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, Royal Botanic Garden Kew and in the New York Botanical Garden in the field of phytogeography. He is currently Professor of the Department. (UFMG), Level 1A Researcher at CNPq, where he coordinated the Forestry Resources Committee since 2012. He was a Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Forestry Engineering at the Federal University of Lavras (Universidade Federal de Lavras UFLA) from 2004 to 2007. He is the author of the book "Catalog of Trees of Minas Gerais" and the database "NeoTropTree", a database with the eco-geographical distribution of about 10300 species of trees in about 1750 areas of South America. He also published 39 chapters in books, 158 articles in national and international scientific journals, and 20 other technical and didactic publications. He participated in or participated in the editorial board of scientific journals such as the Edinburgh Journal of Botany (UK), Rodriguesia (Brazil), Biotropica (USA), Flora (Germany), Brazilian Journal of Botany (Brazil) and Acta Botanica Brasilica (Brazil). Guided 33 fellows of Scientific Initiation or Improvement, 12 Works of Conclusion of Course, 49 Master Dissertations and 22 Doctoral Theses. He works mainly in the areas of Phytogeography and Vegetation Ecology.
