Dr. Hellsten is working in Department of Air Quality, Finnish Meteorological Institute, Helsinki, Finland Antti Hellsten was born in 1969 in Karhula, Finland. He received the Dr.(Tech.) degree in 2004 from Helsinki University of Technology, and the Adjunct Professor degree in 2012 from Lappeenranta University of Technology. He currently works as Senior Research Scientist at the Finnish Meteorological Institute, Air Quality Research Unit. Until 2008 he worked as Senior Lecturer at Helsinki University of Technology, Department of Applied Mechanics. He studied and developed turbulence modelling for computational fluid dynamics. Since 2008 he has been focusing on large eddy simulation and direct numerical simulation of atmospheric turbulence.
Dr. Hellsten is member of the Steering Committee of ERCOFTAC Special Interest Group 5 for Environmental Fluid Dynamics, and deputy member of the Management Committee of the COST action ES-1006 “Evaluation, improvement and guidance for the use of local-scale emergency prediction and response tools for airborne hazards in built environments.
