Head of the Department of Plant Improvement (1993-2004) and Plant Genetic Resources (2004-2010) of the Biological Mission of Galicia-CSIC (Pontevedra). Associate Professor of Genetics at the University of Santiago at the Lugo Campus (1990-2004); Professor-Tutor of the Center of the UNED in Pontevedra (1991-2014). Delegate of the Official College of Biologists in Galicia (1992-94). President of the Society of Sciences of Galicia (since 1988). Professor of Research of the CSIC (since 2009). Leader of the Protein Crops Working Goup from the European Association for Research on Plant Breeding, EUCARPIA (since 2013).
