Biography

Dr. Ann-Marie Simmonds joined AUD in Fall 2014 as Assistant Professor of English. Before joining AUD, she worked at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina for one year as a Visiting Assistant Professor. She has also held a teaching position at the Northern Caribbean University in Jamaica as a Lecturer for two years. Dr. Simmonds has taught courses in Literature, Composition, Linguistics, and English as a Second Language (ESL). Her research focuses on her native island of Antigua. Specifically, she is interested in the language of Antigua (Antiguan Creole) and the music of Antigua (calypso and soca), and how these play into larger discourses.
