Biography

Andy Alstot, Ph.D., joined the APU faculty in 2015 to teach in the graduate physical education program. Prior to that, he taught at the elementary, high school, and undergraduate education levels. Although new to the faculty, Alstot has a strong connection to APU because he was an undergraduate student here and played baseball for the Cougars. He also met his wife on campus and has a brother and sister-in-law who graduated from the university. His expertise is in physical education pedagogy and focuses on the development of teachers, coaches, and administrators who instruct and administer quality, research-based physical education and sport programs. His research centers on the application of the principles of applied behavior analysis in physical activity settings to improve exercise behavior, motor skills, motivation, and the social behavior of students and athletes within the physical activity context.
