Biography

She holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (1985) and a PhD in Biochemistry and Immunology (1991), both from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He completed postdoctoral studies in Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology at the Medical Genetics Center of Minas Gerais (1992). She is a Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology at UFMG, and coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Biochemistry and Immunology (2005-2009), President of the Internal Biosafety Commission of the Institute of Biological Sciences (2003-2011) and Coordinator (2009-2013), SBPC Regional Secretary (2011-2015), Member of the State Forum on Education (2012-2014) and the Association of Friends of the Knowledge Space (2012-2014) ). She is currently Director of the Institute of Biological Sciences of UFMG (2014-2018) and member of the National Education and Science Network (2003-2016).

Research Intrest

Molecular basis of the pathogenesis of Chagas disease; (2) Molecular basis of congenital and oral transmission of Chagas' disease; (3) Population structure and ecoepidemiology of Trypanosoma cruzi and Leishmania sp; (3) Biotechnology and molecular diagnosis of parasitic infections.
